CANAAN BELIEFS
ORIGINS
Canaan was founded in 1869, the product of what is known as, the "third wave" of the Great Awakening. It began as a Methodist church, became an independent church during the mid-1900's and is now affiliated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Our 7-point statement of faith is reflective of the core beliefs of the C&MA.

We believe the bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection and ascension and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that the salvation of the lost comes only by grace through His shed blood.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of the saved to one of life and of the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
